They just have sex and talk every once in a while, Josh constantly getting frustrated from Edy being so frustrating and refusing to really tell Josh anything about herself. They start seeing each other but Edy won’t be his girlfriend even though they both are “in love” and he pretty much begs her to be. In her Sophomore year, after completely making over her physical appearance through the summer, she meets Josh, a football player who takes a liking to her. The Way I Used To Be is split into four different parts: Freshman Year, Sophomore Year, Junior Year, and Senior Year. Eden is so scared that she believes him and keeps the secret but it destroys her from the inside out and changes who she is as a person. He even says that he will kill her if she tells. A few days before school begins, her brother’s best friend, Kevin, a guy who spends almost every minute at her house and with her family (and is basically part of the family), comes in to her bedroom in the middle of the night and forces her to have sex with him - him an 18 year old boy, her a 13 year old girl. He tells her that no one will ever believe her if she tries telling anyone and she knows it’s true - everyone see Kevin as a great, good guy. Summary: Eden, Edy for short, is about to start her Freshman Year of high school, she plays the clarinet and is in the school band.
